Stop to Smell the Roses

I just had a great conversation with a woman at the grocery store, while in line.  If you ever shopped at my grocery store you would realize why this was such a shocker.  She was an older lady probably in her late 50’s and was really soft spoken and intelligent.  We talked about everything from politics to teen pregnancy to commercial real estate. It really wasn’t the type of conversation you would expect to get into with a total stranger, nor the kind you expect to have in line at a grocery store (this gives you an idea of how long the lines were).

I am mainly writing about this encounter because it is a rare thing that you happen upon someone of this caliber while off doing the tedious tasks of everyday life.  Its not because these people aren’t out there but mainly because we spend so much time rushing from place to place that we don’t take the time to genuinely ask someone how they are doing.
