Security is Serious Business
The other day I was talking to my mom on the phone. She told me some news that really shook me to my core. My aunt doesn’t live in the best neighborhood but luckily she is moving to a new house in a much better area of the city. She hasn’t been staying at her “old” house for a couple of weeks but needed to go back to pack up the rest of her belongings.
She had been hard at work packing for a few hours and naturally became tired. Instead of driving onto the other side of town she decided it would be best to just stay there. In the middle of the night she got woke up by the sound of a crash downstairs. Her first thought was that the partially disassembled entertainment center had become fully disassembled in the middle of the night. Curious, she got up to go downstairs in order to check. When she got to the top of the stairs she looked down and staring up at her was the barrel of a gun.
There isn’t really a need to get into the details of what all went on, but the good news is no one was physically hurt, although she is psychologically worse off than she was before the break-in. The reason I am writing about this is to inform you that this could happen to anyone at any time. She has assured me that one of the first purchases she will be making for the new house is a security system complete with cctv so she can see whats going on without leaving the bedroom. Its a shame that something as serious as this has to happen in order for the spotlight to be shined on something that all homeowners should look into acquiring.
