Routine Maintenance is a Big Deal
Its a good thing the really cold weather decided to wait until November to hit. The other day I went to turn on the furnace and there was nothing. All I could hear was the clicking of the igniter. In other words I was heading into winter with no heat. The hot water worked just fine but the furnace wouldn’t “kick in”. So, I had to get someone out here for a repair, which cost an arm and a leg. Of course they tried to do the whole, “have you thought about replacing the furnace” thing, but I wasn’t going to fall for that. Although the furnace is far from new, it is less than 10 years old, so replacing it made no sense to me. Its not like, by repairing the furnace I’m putting Ferrari parts on a pinto, at worst its like putting Ferrari parts on a corvette. The most valuable lesson I learned from the whole ordeal was the importance of routine maintenance on a furnace.
