Reflections on Haiti

Thinking about the disaster that struck the island of Haiti really puts things into perspective.  There you have a very small, extremely poor country hit by a disaster of a magnitude I can’t even begin to imagine.  I sit here thinking about the people of Haiti from the comfort of my modest but nice home on the East coast of the United States, it really makes me realize how lucky I am.  We live in a country that more or less helps you out when you are in need.  We have programs like welfare, unemployment and social security disability to help those in need out. In the Caribbean they have nothing other than the kindness of other nations.  So, next time you sit there and think about how bad you have it just try to think about how bad others truly have it.
