Fully Assisted Self-Checkout?

All grocery stores have them, the self service checkout lines that are supposed to speed up the process for those who don’t require human to human interaction. I just so happen to be one of those people who doesn’t really enjoy talking to anyone at the grocery store. These should be perfect for me, right?
Well they would be perfect except for the fact that every time I have more than 10 items there is a problem. Whether that problem is no bar code, a bar code that is invalid or the machine just decides to freeze on me; rest assured there will be a problem. The only way to remedy those problems is to talk to the customer service people (which I must admit are always freakishly eager to help) who do happen to be located just a few feet away. My point is if I can never actually make it through a self check-out line by myself, can it really be called self-checkout?
