Underrated Sandwiches: Gyro
There are many places that make Gyros but most don’t do them very well. In my opinion there are very few “fast food” items that can match that of awell done gyro.
The Gyro is a Greek fast food “sandwich” usually made of lamb or chicken roasted and wrapped in a pita. Traditionally the meat is roasted vertically on a rotisserie. It is then sliced and topped with chopped onion, chopped tomato, lettuce and tzatziki sauce which is made from yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, olive oil, and garlic. Although some people like french fries layered onto their Gyros I prefer them as a side.

Instructions for Greek Lamb Gyro
Cut onions into thin slices. Chop tomatoes into medium sized chunks. Put those two ingredients into two small bowls and set aside. Combine the olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Heat the Flatbread in a preheated 350F oven about 10 minutes, until warm. Fold each flat bread in half. Fill each of the flatbread with strips of the cooked lamb. Sprinkle each with a little of the olive oil-vinegar mixture. Top the sandwiches with some shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced onions, and oregano. Sprinkle the sandwiches again with oil-vinegar mixture.
Serve warm.
