Caiprissima

What is a Caiprissima? A Caiprissima is a variation of the Caipirinha which is the national drink of Brazil. A Cailprinha is made from cachaca which is a sugarcane based alcohol and is also Brazils most popular distilled alcoholic beverage. If one was planning on making a Caiprinha you may run into a problem with finding cachaca which is where a Caiprissima comes in. This variation of the classic Caiprinaha is concocted through the use of a white rum instead of cachaca.

The Caiprissima is simple to make and only consists of four ingredients, white rum, lime, sugar and ice. Slice a whole lime into wedges. Place the wedges into a thick glass. Your objective is to get the oils from the lime peel so forcefully muddle the lime. It doesn’t matter if you add the sugar before or after you muddle, just remember if you decide to use granular sugar, you should add it before muddling. Once you have finished muddling pour into an ice packed rocks glass. Pour the White rum over the ice, garnish with a lime and serve.
